Look Out // Lesson 1:
Your Identity as a Witness and Ambassador
Introduction:
Welcome to "Look Out," a discipleship guide designed to help plant and water the seeds of a Great Commission lifestyle in the lives of God’s people.
Our hope is that as you these lessons you will develop a hunger to live on mission, and the habit of sharing your faith, making disciples, and stewarding your resources for God’s Kingdom and glory!
Biblical Foundations:
When you placed your faith in Christ, you not only received a new identity as God's child but also a new purpose as His witness and ambassador.
Acts 1:8 "But you will receive ___________ when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my ___________ in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
2 Corinthians 5:17-20 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of _______________. That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the ______________ of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's _____________________, as though God were making his appeal through us."
Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the ___________ of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your ___________ shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may ___________ the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
Questions for Discussion: How does understanding your identity as Christ's witness and ambassador change how you view your daily interactions with people? What excites you about being entrusted with the message of reconciliation? What aspects of being a witness feel challenging to you?
Modeling:
For the Leader: Share your own journey of embracing your identity as a witness and ambassador for Christ. Describe how this understanding has transformed your daily life, your interactions with others, and your sense of purpose. Share a recent experience where you had the opportunity to be a witness and how you approached it.
Practice:
This week we want to put these truths into practice. Every day this week pray this to start your day: "Lord, help me to see myself as Your witness and ambassador today. Open my eyes to the opportunities You are placing before me to represent You well."
