Look Out // Lesson 4:

Making Disciples Who Make Disciples

Introduction:

As you get started, catch up on how y’all are doing since you last met. Celebrate how God has been at work in your lives. How did it go sharing your faith this last week?

Biblical Foundations:

Jesus's final command wasn't just to make converts but to make disciples who would then make more disciples—creating a multiplication movement.

Matthew 28:18-20 "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make ___________, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to ___________ everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"

2 Timothy 2:2 "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses ___________ to reliable people who will also be ___________ to teach others."

Questions for Discussion: How have you experienced discipleship in your own life? What has been most impactful in your own growth as a disciple? What excites you about making disciples who make disciples? What challenges or concerns do you have about discipling others?

Modeling:

For the Leader:  Share your own experience with discipleship. Describe how someone invested in you, what that process looked like, and how it equipped you to disciple others. Then share your current approach to discipling others, including how you find people to disciple, how you structure your time together, and how you encourage them to begin discipling others.

Model a Discipleship Invitation: "I've really enjoyed our conversations about faith, and I've been thinking about how much I've benefited from others investing in me spiritually. Would you be interested in meeting regularly to study the Bible together, pray with each other, and talk about how we're growing in our relationship with God? My hope would be that as we grow together, you'll eventually be equipped to invest in someone else in a similar way."

Together: Pray and plan about who the person you are discipling could initiate a discipleship relationship with this week. Prayerfully identify three people they could initiate with.

Practice:

This week make it a goal to initiate discipleship with the people on your list.
