For New Believers // Lesson 2

Your Testimony

Introduction:

This lesson walks through the basics of helping a new believer share their testimony of Jesus.

The Power of Your Story:

Read together John chapter 9 and talk about the power of the man’s testimony.

Like the blind man healed by Jesus, we each have a powerful testimony in Jesus.

John 9:25 "One thing I do know. I was _______________ but now I _______________!"

The blind man's testimony was simple but powerful. He didn't know all the theological details, but he knew what Jesus had done in his life. Your story can have the same impact!

Writing Your Testimony: "Once I Was Blind, But Now I See"

Use the following outline to write your testimony. Keep it simple, personal, and brief (3-5 minutes when spoken).

1. My Blindness — Life Before Christ

How were you spiritually "blind"? What darkness, struggles, or emptiness did you experience?

2. The Healing Touch — How I Met Jesus

How did Jesus "open your eyes"? How did you come to believe in Him? Who helped you find Christ?

3. My New Vision — Life After Meeting Christ

How do you "see" differently now? What new perspective do you have? How has Christ changed how you view yourself, others, and God?

4. The Comfort I Can Share

What comfort have you received from God that you can now share with others?

Examples From Scripture

Here are some other examples of testimonies from Scripture:

The Woman at the Well (John 4): "Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did." She shared her encounter and invited others to experience Jesus themselves.

The Gaderene Demoniac (Mark 5): After Jesus delivered this man from severe demonic possession, the man begged to follow Jesus and stay with him. However, Jesus had a different mission for him:

"Jesus did not let him, but said, 'Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.'

So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed."

Practice:

Practice sharing your testimonies with one another. Make a plan to share your testimony with someone else this week.
